Management
Cathy Cone, Managing Partner
Cathy Cone has specialized in employee benefits for more than 15 years. Her benefits experience began by serving as the Flight Attendant Representative to the Delta Board of Directors where she worked on issues related specifically to employee benefits. After retirement from Delta, she began a grassroots effort in 2003 to form an organization of Delta Retirees in order to promote education and worked to protect their benefits earned prior to retirement, which is today still referred to as the Delta Air Lines Retirement Committee (DALRC). This organization represents more than 15,000 retirees and provides its members with a unified voice when working to pass pension reform legislation or when trying to protect health and other benefits accrued or received as part of the overall retiree benefit package.
As the founder of the DALRC, Cathy was the most logical person to be elected and serve as the Chairman of the 1114 Committee when Delta Air Lines entered bankruptcy in 2005. During that time, the Delta 1114 committee implemented an insurance program to replace the existing programs for Delta retirees over the age of 65 due to the discontinuation of the programs in the Delta bankruptcy. She was subsequently elected Chairman of the DALRC Medical Plan for Delta Retirees, a VEBA, in October 2006 and was primarily responsible for the management and oversight of the benefits that this VEBA provided to its plan participants.
As a natural progression to Cathy's employee benefits experience and innovative personality, she co-founded Cone Insurance Group in 2007 to provide healthcare benefit services to the group market of the insurance community, delivering to a wide range of clients.
